Meet the MedWAR Northwest 2026 Race Directors

Cory Thompson, OMS4

Race Co-Director

Cory Thompson is a fourth-year medical student at Western University of Health Sciences, Heatherington College of Osteopathic Medicine in Lebanon, OR.  He has been involved with PNWM and worked with MedWAR every year he has been in medical school.  Cory fell in love with the Pacific Northwest outdoors while growing up as the 7th generation in a small, rural community near Mt. Hood, Oregon.  He then moved to Eugene to attend the University of Oregon where he was able to branch out further across the state's mountains and forests.  Cory likes to look for wild berries with his dogs near alpine lakes.  Currently, he is pursuing a career in internal medicine.

Randi Perry, MS4 (They/Them)

Race Co-Director

Randi discovered their love for emergency medicine at 18 while working as an EMT, an experience that sparked a continued interest in caring for patients in challenging and resource-limited environments. They continued to explore this passion as they navigated their undergraduate studies (Public Health-Global Health) at UW, at the same time falling quickly in love with the nature-rich state they could now call home. Now in medical school, they are excited to bring these interests together through their wilderness medicine, combining their love of the outdoors, pre-hospital care, and community health. Randi is currently taking a research year, collaborating with the Burn team at HMC as the 2026-2027 Ruppelt Scholar.
