I can no longer attend, what now?

Please email us at nwmc@pnwmed.org. There is a waitlist and we will try our best to get your ticket in the hands of someone who is stoked to attend! The earlier you let us know, the better. You will be refunded if, and only if, someone else agrees to purchase your ticket.

When can i arrive?

You may arrive at 4pm on Friday, Dec 6. When you arrive, we will check you in, check your COVID and flu vaccination status. You can then move into your cabin and start socializing w/ colleagues. If you plan to arrive late Friday evening or later in the weekend, please send us an email noting when you plan to arrive so that we are availble to check you in.

what meals are provided?

All meals from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch will be provided, thanks to our generous sponsors. Please notify us of any dietary restrictions ASAP using this form. Dietary restrictons.

are vaccinations really required?

Yes. No exceptions. All attendees must be fully vaccinated, including bivalent COVID booster and current flu vaccine, and able to show proof of vaccination. We are professionals and leaders in healthcare, and are expected to set an example that keeps the public’s health at the forefront. Vaccination is our Gore-Tex shell to keep us safe during this ongoing pandemic-becoming-endemic.

Additionally, given that this event is in person, we do not want anyone to risk their life via respiratory infection just so they can come to our (albeit awesome) conference. Vaccination is without a doubt the best way to mitigate this.

what should i wear?

It is winter on the flanks of Mt. Hood, and winter in the PNW means anything goes! While many talks will be given indoors, there will be hands-on simulations and workshops happening outside. Bring appropriate clothing (jackets, rain gear, boots, gloves, hat, etc). Here is the latest weather forecast for MHKC.

where will i be sleeping?

There are various dorm-style bunkhouses and cabins at MHKC. You will need to provide your own bedding. Please see the Location page for more info and to submit a bunking request.

is there a rideshare?

In order to accommodate the limited venue parking, save on gas, and facilitate group sing-alongs, we are encouraging participants to carpool to the event. Please fill out the rideshare form (included in emails to attendees) if you have seats available in your car or are looking for a ride to the conference. As an incentive for carpooling, we will be giving out extra raffle tickets to those able to carpool–and the more people per car, the more raffle tickets you’ll get!

Is alcohol allowed?

Beer and seltzer will be provided thanks to our generous sponsors. ID will be checked to verify you are over 21. While we want everyone to have fun, keep in mind this is a professional environment. There will be attending physicians, residents, and colleagues from all over the country in attendance, so be responsible and make a good impression of yourself.

What is FAWM credit?

The Wilderness Medical Society offers a Fellowship in the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM). To be eligible for credit from this conference, you need to be a WMS member (or register within 120 days of the conference). Students and residents are eligible for up to 75% off the registration fees. Head to the WMS website for more info.
